Who is She?

The Baroness is our alter ego, our trusted personality who gets us to see shapes, colors, fantasies that we would never have otherwise considered. “Caviar, cigarettes, well-versed in etiquette,” she has a sharp tongue and a keen eye for culture, art, politics.

Aspiring to beauty and maximum décor, she brings a riot of color to your environment, a killer queen riding shotgun to your perhaps more restrained nature.

When Travel Paused, Clay Spoke

Once upon a time, the Baroness roamed the globe, a historian and restless adventurer in search of cultures unknown. In later years, the earth whispered a new challenge: clay. It’s not a seduction, this relationship.

It’s a battle of wills, a constant negotiation between artistic vision and stubborn matter. While the Baroness demands loyalty, the clay… well, the clay demands respect.

The result? A collection of ceramic arts born from struggle, forged in fire, and imbued with the untamed spirit that is Baroness von Savage.

A Savage Palette: Inspiration from Unlikely Places

Influence and inspiration comes to the Baroness from multiple corners, from art history to gardening to couture fabric and design. The Disco Generation might see Elio Fiorucci in the ‘Brights Collection,’ a riot of pop-art color straight out of Fiorucci’s consumer culture commentary. ‘Rustic’ nods to Ancient Earth, with clay is left raw, adorned only with a modicum of sculpted, botanical elements and restrained, applied color. ‘Amphora’ nods to the Bohemian artistry of Turn Teplitz, resurrected here with a savage twist emanating in the imperfections of the hand. Lastly, we have ‘Poppies,’ a vibrant dance of red, white, and black, in service to memory for which the poppy is a visual talisman.

Couture fabrics, especially those sharply chronicled each year at the annual MET Gala (some years more inspired than others, darlings), provide a breadth of texture and form. And, browser histories don’t lie, she’s hopelessly addicted to the thrill of the vintage hunt on eBay. The Baroness embraces it all, darlings, for art … is everywhere. Let the visuals here nudge you toward your own creative expression.
